Diljit Dosanjh Becomes First Punjabi Artist to Play Tonight Show

Diljit Dosanjh made history this week as the first Punjabi artist to perform on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Watch the electric performance below.

The singer, whom Jimmy Fallon introduced as “the biggest Punjabi star in the world,” stopped by 30 Rock to perform a mashup of his songs “Born to Shine” and “G.O.A.T.,” which have cumulatively amassed more than 200 million streams on Spotify. For his performance, Dosanjh dressed in traditional Punjabi attire, and shifted a lyric that initially referenced his Bollywood career to mention “Hollywood” instead.

“I am deeply honored and humbled to have had the opportunity to perform on The Tonight Show,” shared Dosanjh in a statement. “It’s a dream come true for me. I hope this performance inspires many others to follow their dreams fearlessly and embrace their roots with pride.”
