Deftones frontman Chino Moreno and his wife Risa have taken in a rescue dog that was nearly euthanized.
Scarlett, a pug, suffered a severe anal prolapse and was advised to be euthanized by a veterinarian. However, Scarlett was rescued by the The Pug Queen Foundation of Los Angeles, and she underwent surgery before being fostered and later finding a forever home with the Morenos.
Scarlett will join the couple’s other pups, Tito and Sasha, in their home in Portland, Oregon, after Chino picked her up in L.A. while on tour with Crosses. The Pug Queen, who helped initially rescue Scarlett, shared a photo of Chino, Risa, and Scarlett on Instagram, along with the heartwarming tale of how the pug survived and found her new home:
“This little girl was dropped off at a shelter with a severe anal prolapse after a vet told her owners to euthanize her. We quickly scooped her up & rushed her to the ER where she had surgery & spent many days recovering. Mary @mary.dolan.92372 then fostered her as she healed. When Risa applied to adopt her I denied her initially because Scarlett was having complications. But as she grew, everything healed and I let Risa know Scarlett was now ready! They watched videos of her on Mary’s page & fell in love. Since Chino & his band Crosses are on tour here, they came to meet her & took her home – to the tour bus – today!”
Meanwhile, Crosses play the final date of their North American tour Monday night (March 11th) in Seattle. The duo of Moreno and Shaun Lopez will then head back out for a European run in June (get tickets here). Moreno is also set to perform with Deftones at Coachella on April 12th and 19th.
