Legendary guitarist Carlos Santana recently broke his finger in an accidental fall at his vacation home in Hawaii. As a result, his upcoming residency at House of Blues at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas has been postponed.
The eight-show residency had been set to begin January 22nd and run through February 2nd. Michael Vrionis, president of Universal Tone Management, reported that Santana won’t be able to play guitar for the next six weeks or so.
“I am sorry to say that Carlos was out taking a walk at his vacation home in Kauai,” stated Vrionis. “He took a hard fall, and he broke his little finger on his left hand. He had to have pins inserted in the finger. Unfortunately, he won’t be able to play guitar for approximately six weeks. Doctors do say that he will recuperate fully.”
He continued, “Carlos is doing well and is anxious to be back on stage soon. He just needs to heal. Santana profoundly regrets these postponements of his upcoming performances, but accidents happen, and his health is our number one concern. He is looking forward to seeing all of his fans very soon.”
At this time, no makeup dates have been announced for this particular run of Vegas shows. However, Carlos has a very busy schedule on tap for 2025 with his eponymous band, Santana. A series of US concerts in April will be followed by a separate previously scheduled run of Vegas residency gigs in May, also at the House of Blues. He’ll then embark on a tour of the UK and Europe in the summer. Tickets to Santana’s upcoming shows are available here.
