Burial and his longtime label head Kode9 have reunited for a new split single featuring one song from each artist.
Out now via Kode9’s Hyperdub label, the split release consists of Burial’s “Phoneglow” and Kode9’s “Eyes Go Blank.” Stream it below.
True to its name, “Phoneglow” evokes warm feelings with airy production and vocals promising, “I will never leave you/ I’ll be right by your side.” On the opposite end of the spectrum, “Eyes Go Blank” features disorienting vocals and a drum ‘n’ bass breakbeat.
There will be a physical 12-inch release of the split single shipping out on August 23rd. Get your copy via Bandcamp.
Though Burial released the double single “Dreamfear / Boy Sent from Above” on XL Recordings earlier this year, it appears his ties to Hyperdub remain strong. Burial and Kode9’s new split single comes after they teamed up for an EP titled Infirmary / Unknown Summer last summer.
Kode9 released his last full-length, Escapology, in 2022.
