Alien Weaponry Unleash "Taniwha" Featuring Randy Blythe

Alien Weaponry have released “Taniwha” featuring Lamb of God’s Randy Blythe. It’s the final single before the Friday (March 28th) release of the New Zealand band’s new album Te Rā.

Billed as one of the album’s “most aggressive, death-metal leaning offerings,” the new song touts technical groove-metal riffage and a huge melodic chorus sang in the Māori language. Blythe adds some vocal grit to the mix, as well as a narrative spoken-word passage — a flashback to his recent book tour readings.

“Lamb of God played a significant role in making Alien Weaponry what it is today and this collaboration with Randy Blythe feels like one of those ‘pinch yourself’ moments that our teenage selves would never believe possible,” the members of Alien Weaponry stated in a press release. “Randy’s lyricism and vocal expertise was an amazing addition to this song and we are beyond stoked to share this song/milestone with the world.”

Blythe is a big fan of the New Zealand trio, as he also appeared in the documentary about the band, Alien Weaponry: Kua Tupu Te Ara, that premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival last year.
