TO OUTSIDERS, reality star Lystra Adams lives the perfect life – from trips to Ascot to glamorous outfits and beautiful makeup.
But behind the scenes, vicious trolls bombard the TV star daily with abusive messages.
Real Housewives of Cheshire star Lystra Adams, 47, has shared how vile keyboard warriors brutally target her online.
Not only do they slam her long nails and body shape, but they also critique her appearance and skin colour.
Recently, after a fabulous day out at Ascot, the reality TV star was hit with an onslaught of unacceptable racial abuse.
Speaking out on the horrendous remark, Lystra said: “I often get hate for who I am and my skin colour seems to offend people.
“The comments always carry the same narrative of vile, disgusting and people putting sick faces. However, racism is not OK.
“I accept everyone for who they are, no matter their skin colour. I cannot say people have treated me the same.
“I’m very upset as comments like these put everything into perspective.”
The FashionNova Ambassador spoke to Fabulous about the darker side of being in the limelight – as she detailed the jaw-dropping treatment she receives from online trolls.
Lystra said: “One morning, I woke up to somebody telling me that I’m going to burn in hell.
“I think people ought to be very careful in what they say. Whether it’s to influencers or public figures or whatever.
“I don’t understand trolls. I just don’t. I don’t understand people who just sit there and think it’s OK to come at somebody that you think you might know from the television.
“People that sit there and think it’s OK to abuse people and troll people online – it’s just not OK. It’s not cool. It’s literally ridiculous. I just don’t get it.”
Lystra, who’s loved for her larger-than-life personality, added: “I am quite obviously outspoken and loud and people seem to think that because of that, it wouldn’t affect me.
“Now, I don’t sit down and cry about the trolls, but obviously I do see comments. I’m not stupid.
Who is Lystra Adams?
HERE’S everything you need to know about Lystra Adams…
She’s a public figure and TV personality who stars on the Real Housewives of Cheshire.
She joined the show in 2020 and regularly leaves viewers stunned with her jaw-dropping fashion and fiery rows.
She has a daughter named Jasmine Adams.
Lystra is a model, entrepreneur and property owner.
She is known for her fiery, confident personality.
In 2022, she walked away from her “sushi and small plates” restaurant Boujee, in Liverpool.
She is happily dating girlfriend Ashley, who she went public with during the reunion episode for series 15.
“Nobody likes to see horrible stuff written about them, so of course that’s not nice.
“I’ve got a thick skin, so it doesn’t affect me deep down, but I see it and I’m calling it out because it has to stop.
“I just think it’s very wrong on all levels and I think people should really stop and think about mental health.
“It’s absolutely foul. It’s not just under my posts, it’s DMs too.
“There are horrible, horrible comments about my body. It’s trying to body shame me.”
But the model and mum-of-one, who has admitted to having a breast augmentation and bum enhancement, explained that trolls “can’t cope” with her “fabulousness”.
She continued: “I think a lot of it has to do with what I do.
“I’m on reality TV and I am not going to fit into the box that they try to put me in. I’m never going to fit into that box.
The comments always carry the same narrative of vile, disgusting and people putting sick faces. However, racism is not OK
Lystra Adams
“That box is too small for me. They can’t cope with all this deliciousness, this fabulousness.
“It’s their problem, not mine. You know, I’ve enhanced myself. I love myself. When I look in the mirror, I absolutely am in love with Lystra.
“Lystra is in love with Lystra 24/7. The more they talk about my butt, I might just do it bigger. The more they talk about my nails, I might just make them longer.
“I love what I see. If you don’t like what I see, then that’s your problem. Don’t throw your insecurities on me. I’m good.
I accept everyone for who they are, no matter their skin colour. I cannot say people have treated me the same
Lystra Adams
“It’s my body. I do what I want. If having implants makes me feel amazing or having my butt done makes me feel amazing, why stop me being amazing?
“People look at me and judge me. You haven’t taken the time to get to know me.
“People don’t like strong people.”
Lystra explained that the trolling is often at its peak when the Real Housewives of Cheshire airs on TV.
Highest-paid celebs who appeared on reality TV
CELEBRITIES can earn eye-watering sums by appearing on reality TV shows – here we reveal some of the highest earners.
Politician Nigel Farage bagged a staggering £1.5million sign-on fee for I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! last year and lasted 23 days.
Rapper Ray J was reportedly offered £810,000 to appear on Celebrity Big Brother (CBB) in 2017 but left after seven days.
Stormy Daniels was rumoured to have been offered £750k to appear on CBB only to not show up and pull out of the show before going in. She claimed to have pulled out due to a custody battle for her daughter making her feel “uncomfortable” about going on TV
Former Emmerdale star Roxanne Pallet was reportedly paid £750,000 to appear on CBB in 2018. She quit the show after falsely claiming fellow housemate Ryan Thomas had punched her.
TV presenter Noel Edmonds was paid £600,000 to appear on I’m A Celebrity in 2018, which was then the highest fee offered, but was voted out by the public first.
David Gest lasted 13 days in the CBB house despite reportedly being paid £600,000. He pulled out due to ‘medical reasons’ on the 2016 show
She added: “When the show airs, it’s more so then.”
The entrepreneur explained that people will often critique her appearance, including her long nails, which she gets freshly done every two weeks.
But the body-confident queen, who has since found love with a woman named Ashley, 31, after her divorce, explained: “People will say ‘oh your fake butt, your long nails, horrible looking’ and comment the sick face emojis, but you know, at the end of the day, I like me.
“I’ve enhanced my body. It’s what I’ve done to myself. I absolutely love it. My wife absolutely loves it.
“I have quite got a tough skin, but not everybody has a tough skin, you know? So what might bounce off of my shoulders may not bounce off the next person’s shoulders.
“So just be careful of what you say.”
Not only do people comment on her body and her nails, but they also slam her fashion choices and tell her to “dress her age”.
Lystra shared: “People will say ‘dress classy’, but this is me. I dress how I want to dress and that’s it.
“What [even] is dressing your age? I’m 47 and honestly, that doesn’t bother me. I will be dressing how I want to dress for the rest of my life until my last breath.
If you sit there and write and troll people day in and day out, well, there’s something completely wrong with you
Lystra Adams
“I hate people limiting what you should do. That’s why we should always be our very own self because no matter what I do, if I was to flatten my butt tomorrow or take out my implants and cut my nails, there’ll still be somebody else who has something to say.
“I like dressing sexy. It’s me. I have a curvy body and that’s how I’m going to dress.
“If you’ve got it, flaunt it and if you paid for it, flaunt it even more. What do you think, I’m going to spend all this money on my boobs and butt and hide it? No, thank you.”
“My thing is, you can’t please people. So please yourself. And that’s what I do. That’s my motto.
“When I wake up, I look in the mirror. I say, thank God for a new day and I please myself. Lystra does what Lystra wants.”
My thing is, you can’t please people. So please yourself. And that’s what I do. That’s my motto
Lystra Adams
Lystra shared a clear message for the trolls, as she advised: “Think about what you’re going to say before you say it.
“Think of other people’s feelings and get help because clearly, you’re a sad individual, so seek help.
“If you sit there and write and troll people day in and day out, well, there’s something completely wrong with you.
“So instead of projecting your insecurities on other people, seek help. It could be an element of jealousy.
“It’s the ones that maybe are not secure about themselves that think, well, seeing me with my big boobs and my big butt and my long nails is an issue. But I’m happy with it myself. So, seek help.”
