Rise Against Unleash “Nod,” First New Song in Three Years

Rise Against have released the single “Nod,” their first new music in three years.

It arrives at a particularly relevant time, considering the Chicago band’s long history purveying political punk rock.

Beneath the song’s rousing chords and big vocal hooks is a call for communal bonding, camaraderie, and resistance in the face of pervasive social and political injustices. Screams frontman Tim McIlrath in the chorus: “I swear to God this can’t wait / Not one more minute, one more day.”

“‘Nod’ is about the solace we find in community,” McIlrath said in a press release. “It’s about the comfort in knowing that we are not alone. This comfort can temper our anger and our frustration, at least temporarily.”

The single is the first new song from Rise Against since 2022’s Nowhere Generation II EP, and all signs point to a new album arriving sometime in 2025.

The band is currently prepping for a run of UK/European tour dates that kicks off in late January, preceding the previously announced “Rise of the Roach” US tour (co-headlined by Papa Roach) that’s set for this spring and summer. Get tickets here.
