Graham Jonson, the artist behind quickly, quickly, has shared ‘Raven,’ the latest single from his upcoming album I Heard That Noise, out April 18, 2025, via Ghostly International.
Opening with vivid storytelling, ‘Raven’ sets an ominous tone as Jonson sings, “I saw a raven flying overhead / It crossed the yard and landed on the shed / And as it cawed couldn’t help but wonder what it said / Was it a raven or an omen from the dead.” His voice, hoarse and commanding, delivers the lines with an urgency that feels both ominous and gripping. As the song unfolds, its folk-tinged melodies twist into heavier, almost punk-like distortions, embodying the sonic unpredictability that defines Jonson’s evolving artistry.
Jonson explains:
“‘Raven’ is kind of the oddball on the album. It strays from the loose narrative of the songs and is also sonically very different from the rest of the album, but I felt it still fit somehow. The lyrics to me are about bridging the gap between superstition/fear and real pain, as I often tend to mix up the two.”
With ‘Raven,’ Jonson continues to push the boundaries of his sound, blending folk, punk, and experimental textures into a singular, immersive experience.
