Spinal Tap made us Smell the Glove, while Nirvana offered up “Smells Like Teen Spirit,” but the band Private Function have taken things to a whole ‘nother level. The Australian punk act has released a new vinyl LP that smells like Gwyneth Paltrow‘s vagina.
That’s right, Private Function’s new album, titled ¯_(ツ)_/¯, was made available in a scratch-and-sniff vinyl edition that evokes the scent of the Oscar-winning actress’ nether region.
As guitarist Lauren Hester explained, the band was inspired by the “This Smells Like My Vagina” candle that was sold via Paltrow’s wellness and lifestyle company’s Goop. However, with the candle no longer available via Goop’s website, and selling for hundreds of dollars on the secondary market, Private Function had to get a little creative along the way.

“This was potentially the greatest thing anyone had ever done, and everyone at Private Function was beyond impressed,” Hester said of Paltrow’s candle via an Instagram video. “We immediately tried to buy one, but due to the overwhelming demand, it sold out instantly. They now sell for over $700 USD each.”
She went on to say that the band analyzed the ingredients of the candle, and commissioned a French perfumer to mimic the scent of Paltrow’s vagina. That scent was then infused into the vinyl, with Hester declaring, “$700 USD dollars to smell Gwyneth Paltrow’s vagina is quite frankly classist, and we at Private Function think that every working class person deserves to have access to the smell 24 hours a day.”
The guitarist concluded, “So, congratulations to everyone lucky enough to score a Goopy record, you now own a scratch and sniff record that smells like Gwyneth Paltrow’s vagina.”
The “Goopy” edition of the vinyl sold for $150 Australian (or $96 US), but sadly has already sold out. A couple other variants of ¯_(ツ)_/¯ are still available via the band’s webstore.
This isn’t the first time Private Function have issued unique vinyl. Their 2022 album 370HSSV 0773H was pressed with the band members’ urine inside.
