MAGNOLIA, the fully committed seven-piece art-punk collective from Norwich, returns with its latest single, ‘Omaha Beach’—a sprawling, cinematic closer to their long-awaited debut EP Omaha, due out Friday, May 30 via Shake! Shake! Records.

The single arrives as the final preview of a project forged through three years of intense creation, personal sacrifice, and meticulous studio work. ‘Omaha Beach’ embodies the band’s sweeping aesthetic—oscillating between haunting discord and striking harmony—while exploring themes rooted in the bleakness of war and the redemptive purity of love. Its dynamic sonic shifts as densely layered instrumentation place MAGNOLIA firmly among experimental peers like Maruja and Opus Kink.

Guitarist and vocalist, George Rodgers says of the track:

“‘Omaha Beach’ was made to be war music; we wanted it to be heavy and rocking. Lyrically it was inspired by the film Come And See which is incredibly bleak, however, the lyrics at the end were only conceived during the recording of the song. They became a tribute to people I care about in life as they have helped me stay sane during the creation of this music. At times writing and recording has caused us to become manic and stressed, but the people in our lives that love us kept us grounded.”

The track also marks the band’s gesamtkunstwerk approach, closing the Omaha EP with a flourish. Rodgers adds:

“Initially it was a much heavier finale but it didn’t feel like it gave much closure to the project. Now it definitely does.”

MAGNOLIA’s ‘Omaha Beach’ is out now via Shake! Shake! Records. The Omaha EP follows Friday, May 30.
