Levitation will return to Austin, Texas, this fall. The Halloween weekend gathering will occur from Thursday, Oct. 31, through Sunday, Nov. 3, and aims to continue its decade-long tradition of delivering a multifaceted lineup representing explorative psych, dream pop, punk, indie, metal, darkwave and electronic music through the takeover of 10 regional venues.
The stacked bill features punk legends the Jesus Lizard, in addition to Gang Of Four, Dry Cleaning, Special Interest, Pissed Jeans, Fat Dog, and more, billed on a single ticket slated for Friday, Oct. 31 at The Far Out Lounge. Jazz Is Dead has signed on for a three-night residency with added help from French acts Cortex and Adrian Younge. Moreover, OSEES will take over the Hotel Vegas for four nights, a feature of the event similar to Levitation hosts, The Black Angels, who will perform on night one.
Also featured and representing international sound are Niger’s Mdou Moctar and Brazil’s Boogarins. A new venue has been added, making for an even bigger assembly than in years past, Kingdom, which will host late-night performances, including sets by The Dare, Axel Boman, and Patrick Holland, and more to come.
Levitation began in 2008 as Austin Psych Fest, by members of the band The Black Angels. Since its start, the annual event has expanded its initial psych-rock lean with additions from the metal, electronic, punk, independent, and underground music ether.
