Jehnny Beth, vocalist of the post-punk band Savages, is releasing her second solo album, You Heartbreaker, You, on August 29th via Fiction Records. In anticipation, Beth has shared lead single “Broken Rib” and its accompanying music video.
You Heartbreaker, You is the follow-up to Beth’s debut solo record, To Love Is To Live, which was released in 2020. The new album has nine tracks and is described as “visceral, abrasive, and cathartic” in a press release. It was produced by Beth’s longtime partner and collaborator Johnny Hostile, who also worked on her first album. See the artwork and tracklist below.
“We’re living in a dark time, full of drama, and barbarous tragedy. It became clear to me that, in these times, we either learn how to scream really well, or we learn how to whisper,” Jehnny said about the album in a statement.

The first preview, “Broken Rib,” brings a raw energy reminiscent of Beth’s work with Savages. Of the track, Beth said, “If I was going to sing again, it had to start with a scream.”
Co-directed by Beth and Johnny Hostile, the “Broken Rib” music video features Beth passing through an office building, oscillating between calm and hysteric as she performs the song. Watch it below.
Beth will open for Queens of the Stone Age at the band’s Rock N Roll Circus Festival in Sheffield (get tickets here) on August 27th and 28th. The artist will also be playing a DJ set at this year’s Glastonbury Festival in June, with more live shows yet to be announced.
