Iggy Pop’s 2006 collab with the Swedish electronic rock band Teddybears on the song “Punkrocker” has gotten renewed attention thanks to the track’s use at the end of the new Superman movie, and now the Godfather of Punk has performed the tune live for the first time ever.
“Punkrocker” has become a sensation on TikTok as it plays a big part in the final scene and end credits of the latest Superman film, which is currently in theaters. Iggy gave the song its live debut on Saturday (July 26th) at the Project Pabst festival in Portland, Oregon. It closed out a 20-song setlist that also saw the punk legend play solo favorites like “The Passenger” and “Lust for Life,” along with Stooges classics such as “I Wanna Be Your Dog” and “Search and Destroy.”
The 78-year-old icon will next play Redmond, Washington, on Monday (July 29th), followed by string of overseas dates, before returning to the States for the CBGB Festival in Brooklyn, New York, on September 27th, and a headlining show in Washington, D.C., on September 29th.
