Gen And The Degenerates Announce UK Tour

Following the release of their debut album, Gen And The Degenerates are heading out on a tour across the UK.

The band’s ‘Anti-Fun Propaganda’ LP arrived last week (February 23) via Marshall Records, and features the likes of new fan favourites ‘Kids Wanna Dance’ and ‘BIG HIT SINGLE’.

Speaking about the ten-song album’s title track, vocalist Genevieve Glynn-Reeves (she/they) explained to Rock Sound in our Track By Track breakdown:

“This started as a demo Sean (guitar) brought in; he was listening to scratchy off-kilter punk-type stuff, Parquet Courts, Brainiac, and just stuff with weird raucous energy.

“The lyrics originated from a silly game I would play in my head, labelling everything as different kinds of propaganda. E.g. the myth that cutting a worm makes two new worms is Anti-worm propaganda spread by birds to make them easier to eat.

“While playing this game I realised how much of what we consume every day is messages to make us feel bad about ourselves so we spend money on aspirational products.”

And now, the band are heading out on a number of dates across the country, playing shows in Glasgow, Brighton, London and more.

Gen And The Degenerates are currently on tour in the US with Flogging Molly, and have said of their forthcoming tour:

“We are enjoying our time in the US, making new friends, but we’re also thrilled to return to the UK to perform for our long-time fans.

“I hope everyone has been revising the album lyrics so we can scream them together every night! As it’s our headline tour, we’ll bring all the usual chaos on the road with us and some extra special silliness.

“It’s been a while since we’ve headlined, and we’re excited to perform all the new material live. Remember to bring sunglasses for post-cool! If you haven’t been to our show before and don’t understand, just bring some sunglasses, and you’ll find out.”
