Gang of Four have announced a North American farewell tour set to kick off in Spring 2025. The highly influential UK post-punk legends will play their iconic 1979 debut album Entertainment! from front to back, as well as a second set of favorites from the rest of their discography.
The outing, dubbed “The Long Goodbye,” launches April 20th in Somerville, Massachusetts (Boston area), and runs through a May 29th show in San Diego. Along the way, Gang of Four will hit such markets as Toronto, New York City, Dallas, Chicago, Seattle, San Francisco, and Los Angeles, among other towns.
Tickets for the tour go on sale this Friday (October 4th) at 10 a.m. local time via Ticketmaster and the band’s official website.
“2025 will be the 45th anniversary of the release of Entertainment! in the US, and will be our final year as a band,” stated Gang of Four in a press release. “It’s been wonderful, but all things must end. We want to go out with a bang and celebrate with our fans and friends. So, on what will be our last US tour, we’ll play two sets at each show: Entertainment! from start to finish in the first, and the best of the rest in the second. Come and join in, it’ll be a blast!”
As the band mentioned, the tour will mark the end of a legendary career that has influenced countless acts, ranging from Fugazi to Nirvana to IDLES.
Later this month, on October 25th, Matador Records will issue a remastered version of Gang of Four’s third album, Songs of the Free, on vinyl, with pre-orders available here.
Prior to the 2025 North American farewell tour, Gang of Four will be playing two US shows this fall, including an October 30th gig in Gloucester, Massachusetts, and a November 1st appearance the Levitation festival in Austin, Texas.
Sadly, founding Gang of Four guitarist-singer Andy Gill passed away in 2020. David Pajo (Slint, Zwan) stepped in to fill his shoes, playing alongside classic members Jon King (vocals) and Hugo Burnham (drums), as well as new bassist Gail Greenwood (L7, Belly).
