Psychedelic punk purveyors Frankie and the Witch Fingers have dropped their latest single, ‘Gutter Priestess,’ the final taste of their forthcoming album Trash Classic, due June 6 via The Reverberation Appreciation Society and Greenway Records.
True to the band’s ever-mutating ethos, ‘Gutter Priestess’ is a snarling, synth-punk fever dream, soaked in grime and driven by a pulsating beat. Guitars clash like shrapnel, basslines creep and slither, and the vocals pierce through it all with jagged confidence. The track captures the band’s fascination with decay, indulgence, and the grotesque—all layered over a seductive, danceable rhythm. To mark its release, the band has partnered with FolksPat Media to deliver a fully playable ‘Gutter Priestess’ video game, available now as a free browser experience.
Dylan Sizemore says:
“‘Gutter Priestess’ felt filthy from the get. I was hooked up to Burroughs and his junk-sick energy, romanticizing my own bad decisions and dark thoughts, cutting up lyrics, letting meaning rearrange itself. The whole thing turned into a brown, sharded nightmare but with a seductive dancey pulse.
“When we went to record it, everyone leaned into the crust. The parts feel barbed and sharp – like they crawled out of a drainpipe with glass in their gums. Hopefully the lighter synth lines in the chorus add a sugary sweetness to all the rot and decay.”
‘Gutter Priestess’ is out now. Trash Classic arrives June 6. Get ready to embrace the filth.
