Daft Punk‘s “Get Lucky” has danced its way into streaming history after joining Spotify’s coveted billion-stream club.
It’s Daft Punk’s first song to reach the milestone as the primary artist on a record after The Weeknd’s songs featuring the legendary robots, “Starboy” and “I Feel It Coming.”
Williams had already been in the platform’s billion-stream club thanks to the saccharine sounds of his Despicable Me 2 hit, “Happy,” and his feature on Calvin Harris’ “Feels.” Meanwhile, it’s the debut for the disco legend Rodgers.
As of December 2023, more than 500 songs have eclipsed one billion streams in Spotify’s history. “Starboy” is on the verge of surpassing three billion, a number reached by only four other tracks: “Blinding Lights by The Weeknd, “Shape of You” by Ed Sheeran, “Someone You Loved” by Lewis Capaldi” and “Sunflower” by Post Malone and Swae Lee.
“Get Lucky” released just over a decade ago as the lead single from Daft Punk’s final album, Random Access Memories, transporting all who listened back to the heyday of roller rinks and Saturday Night Fever. Take a trip down memory lane once more below.
