Billy Idol Talks Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Nomination

Billy Idol recently was nominated for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame for the first time ever, despite being eligible for roughly two decades. Even though he’s been overlooked in the past, the legendary rocker says it would be an “incredible honor” to be inducted as part of the Class of 2025.

The nomination comes at a busy time for Idol, who has a new album titled Dream Into It coming out on April 25th, and a North American tour with Joan Jett kicking off on April 30th (pick up tickets here).

Heavy Consequence recently caught up with the rock icon, who discussed his nomination, as well as his experience attending last year’s induction ceremony, where he performed in honor of Ozzy Osbourne.

“I had a really great time at the Ozzy induction, his solo induction last year,” Idol told us. “It was a fantastic night. I saw loads of people I know, like Roger Daltrey and Sammy Hagar. And then there was a million other people that I met for the first time, like Jelly Roll or whomever. It was just a great night.”

He added, “When I think about all the people that … even if you think about the people from the ’50s, like Chuck Berry and Little Richard and Buddy Holly and Bo Diddley, just the idea that you could be in something with people like that is like so nutty. It’s incredible. What an incredible honor. It just seems to me like an incredible honor.”

The punk veteran is also pleased that if he makes the cut this year, his longtime guitarist Steve Stevens will be inducted with him. “The idea that Steve’s being inducted with me is just fantastic,” he remarked.
