This week we’re highlighting new music from Spiritualized, Fontaines D.C, and Pusha T.
Spiritualized – Everything Was Beautiful
“I felt like I’d been in training for this my whole life…” said J Spaceman in a text conversation last year. He was speaking about his love of isolation due to the pandemic. It was within these circumstances where Everything Was Beautiful was born. The album itself is ambitious and sees the band dialed in as ever. On it, Spaceman plays 16 different instruments and was recorded at 11 different studios (as well as his home). The album employs more than 30 musicians and singers including his daughter Poppy. The result is some of the most “live-sounding” Spiritualized you will come across since 1998’s Royal Albert Hall October 10, 1997.

Fontaines D.C. – Skinty Fia
Fontaines D.C. has delivered an intense and profound album that explores the Dublin post-punk band’s Irishness, albeit from the perspective of London. The album sees the band examine themes of isolation, urban decay, greed, corruption, and the like within the 45‑minute, 10-track project. Skinty Fia is the band’s third album in three years and their follow-up to the critically acclaimed, A Hero’s Death.

Pusha T – It’s Almost Dry
Pusha T has released his follow-up to 2018’s Daytona. The new album, It’s Almost Dry, is Pusha’s fourth and boasts a list of who’s who in the rap world… Jay-Z, Kid Cudi, Lil Uzi Vert, Don Toliver, Nigo, Labrinth, and Pusha T’s brother and Clipse bandmate No Malice all contribute to the project. What pushes this album forward is the competition between the producers, Kanye West and Pharrell Williams. Each trying to outdo the other track by track. All with Pusha on the mic.
Standout Songs: Brambleton, Dreamin Of The Past (feat. Kanye West), Neck & Wrist (feat. JAY-Z & Pharrell Williams), Diet Coke
