If you were attending your very first fashion show ever, you could do far worse than Coach SS25, which creative director Stuart Vevers staged on a sunny afternoon at the High Line on Monday. When our editor-in-chief Mel Ottenberg and our fashion director Dara found the pop sextet KATSEYE at the star-studded presentation, which included a runway appearance from none other than Ella Emhoff, they discovered it was their maiden fashion show. “I don’t think we have a fashion week survival tactic yet,” said Sophia Laforteza. “We’re still figuring it out,” added her bandmate Daniella Avanzini. But there’s no better place to cut your teeth than Coach, whose latest collection beamed with a sense of play, equal parts punkish and preppy. From the elevated runway, we asked the KATSEYE girls for their hot-takes on a number of the label’s staples, from baggy jeans to denim on denim.

MEL OTTENBERG: Hey, KATSEYE. What are your names?
YOONCHAE JEONG: Yoonchae.
MEGAN SKIENDIEL: I’m Megan.
MANON BANNERMAN: Manon.
LARA RAJ: Lara.

OTTENBERG: What did you guys think of the show?
UNISON: So good.
BANNERMAN: Exciting.
OTTENBERG: Can you guys wear the preppy look?
UNISON: Yeah.
OTTENBERG: Can you guys pull off brown?
BANNERMAN: It’s my favorite color.
RAJ: We love brown.
OTTENBERG: Okay, I love brown. Can you pull off denim on denim?
SKIENDIEL: Of course.
BANNERMAN: Definitely.
OTTENBERG: Has Katseye done denim on denim yet?
SKIENDIEL: I think we have, for American Eagle.
BANNERMAN: It’s kind of a theme for us at this point.
LAFORTEZA: Yeah, we do a lot of full denim looks.
OTTENBERG: Do you guys like your sneakers dirty or clean?
UNISON: Dirty.
OTTENBERG: Are you guys friends?
UNISON: Sisters!
OTTENBERG: What’s an app you should delete from your phone?
SKIENDIEL: I need to delete X or Twitter.
BANNERMAN: Twitter. X.
RAJ: Twitter. X.
LAFORTEZA: Same.
AVANZINI: TikTok.
OTTENBERG: I just deleted TikTok.
DARA: Oh, Mel. No!
OTTENBERG: I’ll put it back on when I’m ready.
AVANZINI: It’s addictive.
LAFORTEZA: I love TikTok though.
AVANZINI: I know, but it’s too much.
OTTENBERG: What’s your favorite trend in the show?
RAJ: I loved the baggy blazer with shorts.
BANNERMAN: Yeah.
LAFORTEZA: I love those huge coin purses. They were so cool.
SKIENDIEL: I really liked the motor jackets too.
OTTENBERG: In brown.
SKIENDIEL: In brown!
OTTENBERG: Are you guys in a good mood?
UNISON: Yeah, great mood.
DANIELLA: Never better.
OTTENBERG: Does KATSEYE have a fashion week survival tactic yet? If not, it’ll come.
LAFORTEZA: I don’t think we have a fashion week survival tactic yet. This is our first show ever.
DARA: Oh, wow.
OTTENBERG: That’s sick.
AVANZINI: We’re still figuring it out.
OTTENBERG: Okay ladies, one last question for you. Any advice for girls who want to be you?
BANNERMAN: Confidence.
AVANZINI: Don’t be so hard on yourself. Don’t push yourself too hard.
RAJ: Be unapologetically you and don’t let people tell you you can’t.
JEONG: Be confident.
LAFORTEZA Just go for it.
SKIENDIEL: Never apologize.
OTTENBERG: Just go for it.
DARA: Go for it!
OTTENBERG: What is KATSEYE most obsessed with right now?
SKIENDIEL: Maybe a good pair of baggy jeans?
AVANZINI: Yeah, we love baggy jeans.
RAJ: We’ve also been obsessed with super low-rise flares.
