Keenan Cahill, who gained fame in the early 2010s with his lip syncing videos on YouTube, has passed away at the age of 27.
According to TMZ, Cahill had open heart surgery earlier this month. Following a series of complications, Keenan was put on life support. He passed away Thursday afternoon in a Chicago hospital after he was taken off life support.
Although Cahill’s cause of death is unknown at this time, the social media star was diagnosed Martoeaux-Lamy syndrome, a genetic disorder. The condition, which he was diagnosed with when he was a baby, causes organs and tissues to enlarge, become scarred or inflamed.
On Dec. 15, Cahill took to Instagram to tell his followers he was having surgery. “For those who are asking: December 15 is the date of the surgery,” he wrote.
During the early part of last decade, Cahill gained a huge following on YouTube, as his channel notched more than 500 million views thanks to lip syncing videos of hit songs from Katy Perry, 50 Cent, Justin Bieber, and Ariana Grande, among others. The YouTube personality also worked with said stars on viral collaborations.
After finding fame, Keenan also crafted original music, with his latest uploaded song, titled “Rain” featuring Jillian Jenson, appearing on the platform three weeks ago. Check out the song below.
