YouTube is preparing to add more AI content to your video feeds, with Veo 3 coming to Shorts later this summer.

Google’s Veo 3 AI videos became the talk of the internet back in May when users first got their hands on the powerful new tool.

Veo 3 can create photorealistic videos with simple prompts, and even includes sound and dialogue – something many other AI products lack.

Well, starting this summer, YouTube is going to be incorporating Veo 3 into its ecosystem. The site’s CEO revealed these plans at the 2025 Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity.

YouTube confirms Veo 3 AI is coming to Shorts

After praising Veo 3 and how YouTube has been letting users AI-generated backgrounds and video clips for Shorts with Dream Screen, CEO Neal Mohan revealed that things are going to get even more advanced.

“Today, I’m proud to share that Veo 3 will be coming to YouTube Shorts later this summer,” he said.

“I believe these tools will open new creative lanes for everyone to explore. But what’s even more exciting than what you see on the screen, is how AI is helping creatives behind the scenes.”

Mohan went on to pinpoint how auto dubbing has had a huge impact on videos, with more than 20 million dubbed so far in the six months since creators were given access to the feature.

“My bet for the next 20 years? Creators will flip formats, blend genres, and push deeper into the mainstream — as brand ambassadors, big business ventures and visionary storytellers. Communities will continue to surprise us with the power of their collective fandom. And cutting-edge AI technology will push the limits of human creativity,” he added.

The integration of Veo 3 and Shorts comes as YouTube plans to show ads on Shorts for Premium Lite users, so get ready for more ads to surround the AI content.

YouTube has also embraced AI as a way to make ads more effective by placing them right at the moments where viewers will be the most emotionally invested.
