You Can Visit Mooney’s Bookstore From Netflix’s ‘You’ IRL

Let’s be honest: Joe Goldberg (Penn Badgley) could scare the living sh*t out of just about anyone. Charming bookseller by day, serial killer by night—whatever you do, just please stay away from the basement of Mooney’s Bookstore! Listen up, fans, because You is literally returning to New York City with a pop-up rendition of the infamous Mooney’s—the location Joe first set his sights on Beck.

In anticipation of You Season 5, which will air on April 24 on Netflix, you can check out Season 1’s Mooney’s Bookstore in real life—that is, if you dare.

The pop-up will take place from April 22 to April 23 at 489 Broome Street in Manhattan, according to Secret NYC. There will be a literary scavenger hunt, prizes, cool merch, and photo opportunities. We will warn you, though, that Joe may be watching!

“We always said that we would stop after five [seasons] and, in a perfect world, we would bring Joe back home to New York,” You co-showrunner Michael Foley told Tudum. “We loved the idea of things coming full circle for him. We’re excited by the fact that Joe came home as such a different person than [who] we saw in Season 1. At the core of our final story for Joe is this dichotomy of the old and the new.”

Not in the greater NYC area? No problem! You can register to attend an early virtual screening of Season 5’s premiere. Joe Goldberg himself will make an appearance on Tudum for a live Q&A—from a distance.

For fans who want to participate in a You-themed scavenger event in person and can’t make the pop-up dates, check out The Ripped Bodice in Brooklyn between April 16 and 23. The scavenger hunt is free and sure to chill everyone to the bone! Gear up for some free merch, too.

As you’ll recall, You Season 4 ended with a total bombshell: Rhys was simply a figment of Joe’s imagination. Joe and Kate leave London behind and head to where Joe’s story—and murderous journey—began: The Big Apple. So, the bottom line is: New Yorkers, beware… Joe is back!
