YELLOWJACKETS Season 3 Drops First Look Photos, Confirms More Cannibalism and Teen Leadership Battles

Yellowjackets season three is so close that we can almost taste it. We are sure it will be even more savory than Jackie’s roasted corpse. The next round will come on Valentine’s Day and SHOWTIME is ramping up its promotional train with some morsels to keep fans satiated. A recent Entertainment Weekly profile features some first look photos of Yellowjackets season three, more information about that bonus episode, and some hints into the cannibalism and such to come.

Yellowjackets Releases First Look Images for Season Three

Let’s get into this first set of photos.

There’s a snapshot of Tai, Van, Shauna, and Jeff sitting in a church pew with candles lit, presumably at Natalie’s funeral service. Sadly, there are only two other people in that shot. One is a Black woman who appears to be slightly older than them and the other, who is blurry, is a woman who could be of Asian descent. Perhaps it is Mari, whom we have yet to see in the current timeline.

Another Yellowjackets photo shows Van and Tai embracing in what appears to be a dark alleyway. It seems Tai has abandoned her job, wife, son, and dog to rekindle an old romance. The last two photos are of the teens, with one featuring Tai wielding a shotgun and wearing more clothes than everyone else. We can also see their teepee houses, which makes sense after the cabin burned down.

And, here are the other Yellowjackets photos, which include shots of the adults as well as a wilderness Coach Ben. Is Lottie going to Shauna’s house? Why is Misty burning their group photo? Will Shauna’s daughter finally stop being annoying? There are so many questions!

Yellowjackets Season Three Will Explore Tai and Van’s Romance, the Aftermath of Natalie’s Death, Cannibalism, and Teen Shauna’s Power Struggle

In the past timeline, Shauna is not thrilled about Lottie naming Natalie as the new leader of the pack. The teens will also have to deal with a cold winter and dive into more cannibalism in Yellowjackets season three. “What we see is a continuation of some of the tensions and resentments that were building in season 2,” co-creator Ashley Lyle says about teen Shauna’s leadership woes. “And those really play a large part in how the girls continue to interact this season.” Lyle also says that “the cannibalism cat is out of the bag,” so we will see who gets eaten next in Yellowjackets

In the present, Tai and Van will reminisce about their romance in the midst of the worst situation imaginable as the entire group, especially Misty, grapples with Natalie’s untimely death. Co-creator Bart Nickerson elaborated on the Tai and Van relationship further, saying “One of the things that we have always been trying to play with, but maybe this season even more so is that, as a result of a lot of their experiences, they’ve obviously put a lot of terrible stuff away, but they’re also trying to recapture some of the best of themselves from that time, too. Some of that will be explored through that relationship.”

The Yellowjackets Bonus Episode Is Not Coming For Now

Sadly, that episode we thought we’d get between seasons two and three of Yellowjackets is not coming now. “The truth is that there is a bonus episode but we may need to wait a bit longer for it,” Lyle said.

Either way, we are so excited for more of this show.
