xQc takes shot at Twitch’s new Rewind feature as YouTube and Kick already have it

Streaming star Felix ‘xQc’ Lengyel took a swipe at Twitch revealing the highly-requested Live Rewind feature that will require viewers to have Twitch Turbo or a channel subscription to use.

For over a decade, Twitch has dominated the livestreaming world as the go-to site for the biggest streamers around. Whenever streamers have departed for other platforms, it hasn’t taken them long to ask their new home to replicate some of Twitch’s best features.

A number of them have followed the Amazon-owned platform by adding clips, a similar directory, and chat emotes – amongst other things. However, Twitch has long been missing a Live Rewind feature.

YouTube has had the feature forever, and it is something that Kick was quick to implement. Twitch will finally be adding it soon, but you will need to be a Twitch Turbo subscriber or subscribed to the channel that you want to use it on.

The announcement came at TwitchCon Europe, and it didn’t take long for a number of users to criticize Twitch for paywalling access to it.

Streaming star xQc, who splits his time between Twitch and Kick, also weighed in and couldn’t help but poke fun at the purple platform. “That is a good feature! Chat, that is brand-new! That is a brand-new feature, I’ve heard about this feature before, anywhere, on any platform,” he said as viewers noted Kick has it.

“Innovation! Chat, this is like when Apple comes out with a f**king ‘guys, we have a new 13 megapixel camera or whatever, first to have it’ and people have had that s*it for 12 years or something.”

Twitch has had a rewind feature for some time, but if you want to rewind to the last few moments, you’d have to wait a few minutes for the VOD to catch up. The Live Rewind would fix that.

Subscribing to Twitch Turbo would allow you to rewind on any channel too, which is likely Twitch’s goal.
