xQc defends Ibai after destroying Twitch viewership record yet again

Streaming star Felix ‘xQc’ Lengyel stepped in to defend Ibai ‘Ibai’ Llanos after the Spaniard, once again, broke the concurrent viewership record on Twitch – which he previously held anyway.

Twitch’s Spanish-speaking community has produced some massive viewerships on the Amazon-owned platform. TheGrefg had over 2.4 million viewers when his Fortnite Icons skin was unveiled.

Over the last few years, though, it has been Ibai’s La Velada del Año – The Night of the Year – that has stolen the show. Not only has the Spaniard packed out football stadiums for the event, but he has had millions watching at home too.

Each year has led to a pretty big increase too, initially peaking at 3.3 million, then 3.4 million the year after, before a massive jump to 6.7 million the following year. His 2025 event had a massive 10.8 million viewers at its peak, but some Twitch viewers tried to downplay it, questioning his standing.

Ibai’s record-breaking Twitch viewership defended

Well, xQc stepped in to defend the Spanish streamer, hitting back at anyone questioning his new achievement.

“I love how like new age streamers and watchers like to act like they know anything about Twitch, and then something happens and they go ‘yo, who is this guy?’ It’s just funny,” the Canadian streamer said.

“Dude, your insult is not an insult when you’re posting about somebody getting 11 million viewers. Its like irony,” he continued before picking on one critic in particular. “Gamer, Overwatch? Case settled! The guy plays Overwatch, GG.”

As noted, it isn’t the first time that Ibai has broken this record and his events continue to go from strength to strength.

He might never surpass the 10.8 million mark in the future, but he has someone for backup if anyone tries to call him out.
