xQc claims Twitch have negotiated ban timing with big streamers

Streaming star Felix ‘xQc’ Lengyel has claimed that Twitch will work with big streamers when it comes to bans, even organising what days suit them for a suspension.

Over the years, Twitch streamers and viewers have been frustrated by the ban process. Streamers may get banned out of the blue for tipping on a rule they weren’t aware of, while others appear to skirt by without falling foul of the ban hammer.

Twitch has made some changes with regard to suspensions, providing more clarity on exactly why a streamer has been banned at different points. It remains a big moment when one of the top names on Twitch gets banned, though.

According to xQc, Twitch has, at times, worked with streamers to figure out when a suspension should come into place to suit their streaming schedule.

xQc claims Twitch has negotiated with streamers on bans

“I will leak a secret, ready, chat? I don’t know if it still works like that but back in the day, it worked like that. When you’re about to get banned, they send you a DM. Your partner manager will contact you, ok?” he said.

“And, if its like ‘oh, dude, can we hold off until this day?’ sometimes they will listen. It wouldn’t surprise me if they timed the ban where it would be his half day off or day off, it is what it is, that’s just how it goes.”

The Twitch and Kick streamer revealed that, when he had his week-long ban on Twitch, he was alerted to when it would start. That also includes streamers being allowed to finish a stream and then being banned as soon as they go offline.

The Canadian noted that, in his situation, he ended streaming up the early hours of the morning after being given a heads up about the ban.

He was also relating it to Hasan ‘HasanAbi’ Piker’s recent ban, which was a 24-hour suspension for “improper handling of terrorist propaganda.”

The political commentator addressed the ban, believing it to be a “bad policy for news and press freedom,” as he is also open to streaming on YouTube.
