ONE OF WWE’S top brass has hailed “phenomenon” Logan Paul ahead of WrestleMania 40.
The much-maligned YouTuber, 29, became a worldwide superstar on social media before he and his brother Jake Paul embarked on their respective sporting journeys.
Having forayed into boxing, losing to now Prime drink partner KSI in 2019 and then taking Floyd Mayweather the distance two years later, he debuted in WWE.
He made his bow at WrestleMania 38 as The Miz’s tag team partner and he has since signed a full-time contract with the company.
His daredevil antics have made him a huge hit with both experienced stars and viewers.
And he has thrived, main eventing Crown Jewel in an unsuccessful shot at Roman Reigns’ Universal title in November 2022.
He continued to impress and gain experience, that is despite returning to the boxing world last year.
Paul beat Dillon Danis in an explosive bout in Manchester in October and within weeks he was celebrating back in WWE.
He defeated Rey Mysterio in November to become US Champion and still holds the title now heading into WrestleMania 40 this weekend.
Now SmackDown general manager Nick Aldis, who enjoyed a distinguished career in his own right before stepping into management, has heaped praise on the star.
And he also revealed the man who has been training him to become the in-ring performer that he is.
Aldis told The Gabby AF podcast: “He’s a phenomenon because we’ve had a lot of celebrities, we’ve had a lot of outsiders, but no one’s ever delivered like Logan Paul, period.
“Shout out to Shane Helms for really being his main coach.”
Helms is a former wrestler who is better known to Attitude Era wrestling fans as The Hurricane.
Aldis also discussed the impact of having Paul’s supporters looking at the WWE product.
He added: “So, if you’re someone who is just looking to absolutely maximize your opportunity and to just make an impression on them?
“This is money in the bank that’s going to start acquiring interest next year because the retention of those fans? They become your fans.”
Paul defends his US Title at WrestleMania 40 night two in a triple threat match against the iconic Randy Orton and long-term rival Kevin Owens.
