In the video, a sunglassed Ferrell wearing Swedish House Mafia merch bops along to EDM production before turning around to face the camera. “Oh, hello, I didn’t see you there. I have a major announcement to make,” he says. “I’ll be playing with my band, Swedish House Mafia. Boys — Steve, Seb, Ax — get in here… Be there. Don’t piss these guys off.”
Founded by Ferrell’s friend Craig Pollard, Cancer for College offers college scholarships and medical debt relief to cancer survivors. Ferrell is a longtime supporter of the organization; in 2014, the actor faced off against his celebrity doppelgänger, Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith, in a series of drum battles to raise money for the charity.
More recently, Ferrell played cowbell alongside his son Magnus during a 2022 benefit show for Cancer for College and teamed up with John C. Reilly to perform their Step Brothers song “Boats ‘N Hoes” at a similar event last year.
Ferrell is no stranger to DJing for large crowds, either. During the University of Southern California’s 2023 Trojan Family Weekend, he manned the turntables at a tailgate party held before the school’s football game against the University of Arizona.
Swedish House Mafia are slated to tour across Europe this summer before heading to Las Vegas for a trio of shows spread across late August and September. Get tickets here.
