Playing a hardworking nurse named Ali in “2 Good 2 Be True” has made Kathryn Berndardo appreciate more the work of medical frontliners.
“I have so much respect sa lahat ng nasa medical field because my ate is a nurse. And then ‘yung brother ko naman is a dentist. Kahit paano nasa medical field and hindi joke mag-aral for that. And hindi rin joke ‘yung gagawin mo and applying lahat ng napag-aralan mo kasi buhay na ‘yung nakasalalay, eh,” Bernardo said during the finale mediacon for the series recently.
( I have so much respect for all those who are in the medical field because my elder sister is a nurse. I saw her hardships she went through from the time she was studying until she graduated, until she started working. And then my brother is a dentist, so somehow he’s in the medical field, and it’s no joke to study that. And how they do their job and to apply all that you’ve learned is no joke, because life is at stake.)
Bernardo said her sister told her that sometimes it would be hard for a nurse like her to get emotionally attached to the patient.
(I admire them because it’s hard to build a wall between a nurse and a patient. My sister told me before that sometimes you become too attached to a patient. Sometimes you are able to save the patient, sometimes you can’t, and it’s very hard for a nurse because you’re the one who’s trying to cure them and fight for them)
With this, Bernardo’s respect for medical practitioners became higher that she feels that they all deserve the praise for a job well done. EDV
