Singer-actress Jolina Magdangal had no second thoughts on inking a contract with ABS-CBN because she feels the network has been kind to her.
Despite the absence of a franchise, Magdangal chose to still renew her contract with the network. The franchise renewal of the network was denied by Congress on July 10, 2020.
“Sa akin kasi, noong nangyari iyon, wala akong dalawang isip na bakit hindi? Ang sabi ko nga dati, kung nagsasama-sama tayo kapag Christmas special, kung nagsasama-sama tayo kapag merong ball at merong mga big events na masaya, bakit tayo hindi magsama-sama pagkanangangailangan lalo na ng isa’t isa?” she said during her contract signing on Feb. 23.
(For me, when it happened, I didn’t have second thoughts, why not? As I said before, when we’re together during Christmas specials, when we’re together during a ball and during big events which are happy, why can’t we be together when we need each other?)
Magdangal did not feel hesitant to sign just because the network still has no franchise. While she also understands those who chose to leave, she also stressed that it’s important now to embrace those who were left behind.
During the contract signing, different moments flashed back for Magdangal such as when she was running inside the network’s compound when she was still a kid.
“After ilang years, tatlong dekada and more, eto, kasama ko pa rin ang ating mga boss at talagang nandito pa rin ako. Hindi man tumatakbo pero nandito pa rin sa ABS,” she said.
(After how many years, three decades and more, here, I am still with our bosses and I am still really here. I may no longer be running around but I am still with ABS-CBN.) JB
