Now, fans want to know why the social media stars have split.
Who is the Pink Shirt Couple?
The Pink Shirt Couple is a popular now-former couple well-known for wearing the same pink outfit daily.
The pair — whose names are Cayda and Alyssa — gained a massive audience across multiple social media platforms, with 19.7 million subscribers on their YouTube channel, @pinkshirtcouple; 3.9 million followers on their TikTok account, @pinkshirtcouple; 270,000 followers on their Instagram page, @pinkshirtcouple; and 189,000 followers on their Facebook account, @pinkshirtcouple.
According to a YouTube blog, titled Road to 10 Million Subscribers with Pink Shirt Couple, the duo met at college in February 2021 while they were both on the swim team.
The influencers then began to make TikToks and live videos together, acquiring a following doing Rubik’s Cube wars.
By the summer of 2021, the couple “had reached a point where they felt they could creatively and financially pursue their dream full-time.”
“Throughout this journey, they were posting long and short form videos on a few different channels, and learned a lot about analyzing analytics, editing and creating a style that worked for them,” the Blog continues.
Cayda and Alyssa moved to Arizona in March 2022, where they continued to share content and build a large following.
Pink Shirt Couple aims “for positive, fun, goofy, content suitable for all ages and families from all over the globe.”
“We both have big personalities but in different ways and we play off of each other well,” the pair shared for the Blog.
“In the beginning, everyone thought we were siblings. Cayda has a comedic timing and personality that is so original and authentic. Alyssa is smart and has an innocent way of looking at things that make everyday [sic] an adventure,” they continued.
Why did the Pink Shirt Couple break up?
On February 3, 2024, Cayda and Alyssa revealed their split in a YouTube video titled We Broke Up.
“We did break up, as a couple. We’re still really close as friends and care very deeply about each other,” Cayda shared, in part.
“But I think as individuals, when — like I said, the most important thing is working on yourself, and when the other significant other doesn’t provide that or help better themselves or the other person, I think they might need time for themselves or apart. And I think that’s what is best for us,” he continued.
“Doesn’t mean change is bad. Change is good. You have to learn to grow.”
“Well, you know, I still love and care about you so much and I just want the best for you, and I also want the best for me,” Alyssa then said to Cayda before revealing to viewers that she moved out.

“And obviously it’s just really hard, because we have been together for two and a half years, you know, which is a pretty good amount of time — big chunk of our lives, you know, we spent with each other and we grew and we got to experience this whole YouTube with each other,” she continued.
“For our relationship, we felt more like friends than a couple. You know, we both can have so much fun with each other and are super silly and everything.
“Some things, we didn’t really understand each other, and we aren’t able to give each other everything that we need in a partner, and we realize that.”
“I feel like in relationships you have to be friends, but, ’cause if you’re not friends, then I’m not sure what kind of love-hate relationship that is,” Cayda added.
“We realize that we can’t change each other, and you should never try to change somebody,” Alyssa said.
“Change is good — in other words, she’s not saying that there’s not room for change, but personally trying to change someone, yeah, that’s where the difference, but…” Cayda said.
“Since our relationship is our career, you know, it doesn’t feel right to pretend to still be in a relationship and be a couple when, you know, we don’t really feel like it,” Alyssa added.
“We could’ve just kept making content together and kept pretending, and kept doing that, but that’s lying to you guys and that’s not right, because we don’t want to lie to you guys.”
“I think on a personal level, that’s also very hard to do, and act that we’re in a relationship but we’re friends, so,” Cayda said.
Cayda later shared that he felt he had been “taking advantage of” Alyssa.
“The most important thing I learned I guess is, you realize the things you lose, after you’ve already lost them. And, I’ve learned that. And, I’ve learned a lot of things in life from this experience,” he said as he became emotional.
“With how it happened, it helped me realize the things that I did wrong and the things that I took advantage of,” he continued, in part.
“I wasn’t enjoying the content as much or putting as much energy into it, and that’s when I started taking advantage of her and letting her do more work,” he added, in part.
Alyssa later revealed the “main part” of why the couple called it quits.
“The main part was, was our actual relationship off-camera working out? Not just as business partners, because what we could have done is we could have just made separate accounts and just continued on our own and kept our relationship but been separate on camera,” she said.
“Or, you know, if you didn’t wanna do videos anymore, you could have gotten a job and we could have kept working on our relationship, and not have been online,” she said to Cayda.
“I think personally with everything that happened, and relationship-wise and then shortly after I got in the car accident. Just a lot of emotions hit me and I needed some time on my own, and to just one try to find myself and what my goals and plans are in life,” Cayda added.
“Kind of in the sense of me taking a mental health break was true.”
Is Cayda still making videos?
Cayda has made his own YouTube channel, @pinkshirtsingle, which has gained over 28,000 subscribers.
As of February 4, 2024, he has yet to post content to this channel.
In the We Broke Up video, Cayda and Alyssa encouraged fans to follow his channel if they wanted to and expressed their appreciation for their followers.
“I think it’s going to be a good thing for me on my end for me to take my own path on my own and all of my goals and aspirations, and do those things so I can take in that success and credit for the things that I’ve put in,” Cayda also said, in part, after discussing how he felt he had been taking advantage of Alyssa and her work.
Alyssa also shared that she will continue making content.
“For me, videos are my passion. Making these videos for you guys, literally my dream come true. I wake up every day and I’m so, so lucky,” she said.
“And so I never want to stop making videos. I never want to stop being a YouTuber,” she continued, in part.
