Ordering groceries online is super convenient. You scroll through your phone, pick out what you need, check out, and wait for it to show up at your doorstep. All of that, without ever leaving the house. But sometimes, what shows up isn’t exactly what you expected. A Walmart shopper learned that the weird way after receiving her Dr. Pepper order in a cremation box.

One TikTok user, music teacher, and musician, Stevie Wyatt (@steviexhorror), recently shared an unusual Walmart delivery mix-up.

The video, which has over 46,000 views, starts with Wyatt showing off a large cardboard box from the United States Postal Service.

“So, we just got something in the mail,” she says, before zooming in on the shipping label.

Walmart Shopper Receives Strange Soda Delivery

That’s when her camera catches it: “Why does it say, ‘cremated remains’?” she laughs while pointing at the wording on the front.

When the package is opened, Wyatt doesn’t find an urn or ashes—just a package of Dr. Pepper Cream Soda Zero Sugar.

“Ummmm…. Walmart can you explain??” Wyatt wrote in an on-screen caption. “(Also we ordered the Jurassic world ones and yall gave us the wrong ones),” she added.

In the caption, she tagged both Walmart and Dr. Pepper and asked, “Why did our sodas (wrong sodas by the way) come in a cremation box??”

The Packaging Mix-Up Might Have A Simple Explanation

Walmart’s fulfillment process can get complicated sometimes.

In some cases, shoppers report ordering something from Walmart, but the package actually comes from somewhere else, like Amazon—likely part of their multi-channel fulfillment.

While Walmart is known to repackage some items before shipping them, it’s hard to believe this was its doing. A more likely explanation is that the item came from a third-party marketplace seller—an independent seller that lists products through Walmart.com.

Technically, sellers are supposed to follow certain guidelines. But it’s unclear whether that includes rules about reusing labeled shipping boxes.

Either way, Wyatt is still entitled to a return, especially since the order was incorrect.

Commenters Were Entertained

In the comments, the box raised some eyebrows, but users mostly found the incident hilarious.

“Listen. I shipped remains of my father and step mom to my sister recently and my immediate thought was ‘OH NO, PLEASE DONT BE MY MISDELIVERED DAD,’” one person wrote.

Another joked, “The remains of Dr. Pepper himself.”

Others were more focused on the reuse. “Reusing the cremation box is the ultimate Depop experience,” a third wrote.

One viewer claiming to work at Walmart chimed in too.

“I work at Walmart and they’ll push the normal boxes out before the cool ones for some reason,” they explained. “It’s really just whatever is on the shelf. The box tho?? That’s WILD LOL.”
