Why AGATHA ALL ALONG’s Jen Kale Is Poised to Make a Magical MCU Return

Agatha All Along‘s Jen Kale did something no witch had ever done in history. She was the first to successfully walk the Witches’ Road. Sure, no coven had ever actually traveled on the Road before since it didn’t exist until Billy Maximoff created it, but still! Two other witches and a local gardener didn’t survive that magical realm. None of them even would have made it past the first trial if not for the prodigious talent of their Potions Witch, who got what she came for. After a century without her power she is no longer bound. And that’s exactly why Sasheer Zamata’s Jennifer Kale, a noble witch, is poised to one day make a magical MCU return.

After realizing it was Agatha (because of course it was) who had ultimately bound her to a doctor in Boston, Jen Kale undid the spell that had tortured her for a hundred years. When she finished she not only completed the final trial, she got exactly what she wished for. The Road instantly transported her back to reality during Agatha All Along‘s eighth episode.

In the show’s season finale, Agatha explained to Billy how he had made the Witches’ Road real. Before that, it was all a ruse Agatha used to lure other witches to her side so she could steal their power and kill them. Billy wasn’t impressed by his incredible power and creation, though. He was distraught over Lilia, Alice, and Sharon Davis, but Agatha pointed out technically he had saved a life. Agatha’s original plan was to kill every member of the coven anyway. When Billy made the Road a reality, he gave his coven a chance. Jen took advantage of that and not only lived, she got back her life by getting back her powers.

In her final scene on the show, the potions witch climbed out of the dirt onto the outskirts of Westview. With the sun setting she looked hopeful and at ease for the first time in a century. But unlike Billy who stuck around to help Agatha, Jen didn’t look back. She used her newly restored magic to flew off into the sunset. It was a new day for her, but it didn’t seem like the end of her MCU story.

Jennifer Kale’s Marvel Comics history is very different from her MCU counterpart’s, and yet both iterations of the character share the most important traits. Both are brave, skilled, and noble. Comic Jen Kale is a force for good, a talented, powerful sorceress who allied with other famous magic users like Doctor Strange, Wong, and even Wanda Maximoff. She fights to protect her world from other realms and dimensions. Jen Kale looks after others, just as she did on Agatha All Along. She’s exactly the type of witch you’d want protecting your world when all-out multiversal war breaks out. Especially if that world that just lost so many sorcerers to the Scarlet Witch in Multiverse of Madness. You’d also want Jennifer Kale to help you fight vampires and other monsters who might endanger the innocent.

Doctor Strange, Wong, Billy Maximoff, the ghost of Agatha Harkness, and even the Scarlet Witch (if she ever returns) will need help defending Earth-616. There are things not even the Avengers can do that a witch so powerful she even impressed Agatha can. The infinite multiverse means infinite threats. There are fewer better, more powerful, more noble magic users to help keep the world safe than Agatha All Along‘s Jennifer Kale. Now that she has her magic back, the MCU will need her help.
