She had over 900 thousand followers on TikTok and an additional 478 thousand on Instagram.

Cala also had over a thousand subscribers on YouTube.

Why did the ‘I Go Meow Cat’ go viral?

Cala went viral in April 2024 after Elizabeth shared a video where the cat appeared to sing the words: “I Go Meow.”

The video has over 30 million views on TikTok.

Popular social media musical group The Kiffness, who is for playing along to popular social media clips, sampled Cala’s viral moment.

Their collaboration with the famous cat has over two million views.

When did the ‘I Go Meow Cat’ pass away?

On May 30, 2024, Elizabeth shared that Cala had passed away. She was 12 years old.

She shared the news through a video that she shared on social media.

The text on the video reads, “I am devastated to share that Cala has passed away. I adopted Cala thinking she was young with a full life ahead of her.

“However, Cala had gotten sick and was not recovering. I took her to the ER where they admitted Cala.

“Tests revealed she was much older than initially thought by the shelter and her vet.

“Cala ultimately passed away in my arms due to old age.”
