Who is Tory Burch’s husband, Pierre-Yves Roussel?

Pierre-Yves Roussel is a businessman, CEO, and financial advisor.

Roussel was born on November 7, 1965, in Paris, France.

After graduating with a degree in Economics from ESCP Europe Business School, he went on to receive a graduate degree from Brussels University.

Roussel has also earned an MBA from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton Business School.

After graduating from Wharton, Roussel became a financial analyst at Crédit Commercial de France.

He then joined the consulting firm, McKinsey & Company, where he moved his way up to partner in 1998, and then a senior partner in 2004.

In 2004, Roussel also joined the LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton executive committee as the executive vice president of strategy and operations.

By 2006, he became the chairman and CEO of LVMH Fashion Group, which includes luxury brands like Givenchy, Céline, Donna Karan, Loewe, Marc Jacobs, Pucci, Louis Vuitton, and Kenzo.

As part of his role, he was responsible for appointing new artistic and creative directors to several fashion houses, including Riccardo Tisci at Givenchy and J.W. Anderson at Loewe.

In 2018, he moved to an advisory role at LVMH, and Bernard Arnault, one of the conglomerates founders, assumed Roussel’s previous roles.

In 2019, Roussel became the CEO of Tory Burch LLC, a mid-luxury women’s fashion label based in Manhattan.

The company was founded by Roussel’s wife, Tory Burch, in 2004.

Aside from his career ventures, Roussel is heavily involved in the fashion world.

He is a jury member of the ANDAM Fashion Award, the CFDA Fashion Incubator, and the LVMH Prize.

He is also a board member of the Business of Fashion and the Federation of Haute Couture and Fashion, the governing body for the French fashion industry.

Despite being in the public eye professionally, Roussel keeps a relatively low profile in his personal life.

His Instagram account is notably private, and he seems to only follow close friends and family.

How did they meet?

Tory Burch and Pierre-Yves Roussel first met when Roussel, then the chairman and CEO of LVMH Fashion Group, was “exploring a potential acquisition for LVMH,” as reported by The New York Times.

This was back in 2014, and the duo’s relationship quickly progressed from business acquaintances to a powerhouse couple in the fashion industry.

On January 2, 2016, Burch revealed that the couple had gotten engaged over the holidays on her social media.

“We are tying the knot…#happynewyear,” she captioned the post.

On Saturday, December 1, 2018, Burch married Roussel in a private, intimate wedding ceremony.

The wedding “took place at the restored estate of the late Bunny Mellon, which Burch owns,” as reported by Town and Country Magazine.

“Mellon was a confidante of Jackie Kennedy and said to be the one woman Jackie wanted to impress.”

Despite the press being excluded from the big day, Burch and Roussel’s guests took to Instagram to share behind-the-scenes snaps of the wedding.

“Not at all fun 😜😜 Best weekend ever ! thank you for for letting us be a part of this magical weekend Pierre Yves and @toryburch 🎉♥️♥️♥️,” wrote celebrity makeup artist Gucci Westman.

“Celebrating the sweetest, realest love of the best couple, in the most beautiful place, with the funnest of friends. My cup runneth…🙏🏼❤️” Jessica Seinfeld captioned her post.

“These fireworks are nothing compared to the sparks between Tory and Pierre-Yves 💫 thank you for sharing your magic with us,” Fabiola Beracasa Beckman wrote, alongside a video of fireworks bursting in the air.

Much like her secretive wedding ceremony, Burch is also staying mum about the 2024 Met Gala.

“I’m working on a couple dresses right now for the Met,” Burch revealed at the TIME100 Gala on Thursday, April 25, as reported by US Weekly.

“It’s so much fun to see it come to life.”

She also told reporters she was “sworn to secrecy” on who she was designing a gown for, though confirmed it was “an A-list actor.”

In 2023, both Phoebe Bridgers and Emily Ratajkowski wore Burch’s designs to fashion’s biggest night.

Do Tory and Pierre-Yves have kids?

Tory Burch and Pierre-Yves Roussel do not have any children together.

However, they both have children from previous marriages.

In 1993, Burch married William Macklowe, though the couple divorced within a year.

In 1996, she married J. Christopher Burch, an investor in Internet Capital Group, a venture capital firm.

Burch and Christopher had three sons together, including Henry, Nicholas, and Sawyer.

She was also a stepmother to Burch’s three daughters from a previous marriage.

After divorcing Christopher in 2006, Burch briefly dated cyclist Lance Armstrong and music executive Lyor Cohen.

Roussel, meanwhile, was also married before Burch, though his ex-wife’s identity is unknown.

He does, however, have three children from his previous marriage as well.

With six kids between them, along with three former stepchildren, Burch and Roussel have a full house.

Since both are in their late 50’s, they’re also unlikely to have any more children of their own.
