THE SMASHING Pumpkins are an American rock band that achieved mainstream success in the early 1990s.
The legendary band has had several lineup changes and announced a brand-new guitarist in 2024.
Who is the new Smashing Pumpkins guitarist Kiki Wong?
In January 2024, the Smashing Pumpkins announced a public call for a new touring guitarist for their tour later that year.
Four months later, on April 26, the band revealed their new guitarist to be none other than Kiki Wong.
Kiki is a Los Angeles-based musician who was a guitarist in the band Vigil of War.
The Californian famously played the drums for Taylor Swift’s performance of Shake It Off at the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards.
She reacted to the news on Instagram, saying, “It’s been an absolute wild ride, but I am beyond honored and humbled to be chosen to perform alongside some of rock’s greatest and most influential musicians of all time.
“I never thought little ole 15-year-old me playing metal guitar in my bedroom would amount to this moment.
“It goes to show hard work and perseverance truly pays off if you’re willing to push through the tough stuff, so never lose hope out there.
“I am so grateful for this opportunity and can’t wait to share the stage with the legendary Smashing Pumpkins!”
