Sutton was first married to actor and singer Christian Borle, a fellow Broadway theater star who has been nominated for five Tony Awards and has won two.
He took home two awards for his performances in Black Stache in Peter and the Starcatcher and the other as William Shakespeare in Something Rotten!
He met his ex wife Sutton while studying for his BFA in college. They married on September 18, 2006.
The pair divorced in 2009, and Sutton said the split hit her for a while.

She commented: “I kept equating it to, like, someone took my purse and dumped it out on the sidewalk.
“And it was all my stuff everywhere.
“And for three years I was sludging through mud to sort of rebuild myself and my relationships.”
Christian later said: “As life took its crazy winding turns and we ended up not being married anymore, it was always a priority for us to stay friends.
“I just saw her before she headed off for her big L.A. adventure [as the star of the ABC Family series Bunheads].”

Ted began his career writing screenplays and made a name for himself with the blockbuster smash Ocean’s 11 and wildly popular cop drama The Shield.
He’s since moved up the ladder to producing, including coproducing the Martin Scorsese hit The Wolf of Wall Street.
He was married to Sutton for 10 years, from October 2014 until she filed for divorce in October 2024.
The two met on a blind date a few years after she had divorced from her first husband.

After being linked with her The Magic Man co-star Hugh Jackman, the two have confirmed that they’re an item.
They began working together in 2022.
According to a source speaking with Us Weekly, their rumoured romance was behind his split with wife Deborra-Lee Furness in September 2023.
A different source previously told Closer that Sutton’s “connection with Hugh was something no one saw coming,” adding, “they fell in love, plain and simple.”
They were spotted out and about on January 5, 2025 in Santa Monica, California.
The new couple were praised for their palpable on-screen chemistry whilst performing together.
Sutton said in June 2022: “He has an impeccable reputation of being the hardest working man, incredibly kind, and generous — and all of that is true.
“He’s now become one of my best friends, which was a surprise, because you usually go into these things thinking, ‘Well, I hope we get along.’ But we just spent Memorial Day with our families. It’s really fun to meet new friends after 40.”
