If you’re buying a larger item for your home from Walmart—like an ironing board, a bookshelf, or a mirror—you might get a good price. But good luck fitting it into your car.

The problem is that these items are often too big to carry comfortably but not quite worth enough to qualify for Walmart’s free delivery.

Unless you’re a Walmart+ member or hit the $35 free delivery minimum, you could be stuck paying around $9.95 just to get it to your door, according to the retailer. And that’s not counting the additional express delivery fees if you need it quickly.

So what happens when someone doesn’t want to pay for delivery and can’t get it to fit inside their car either? Well, one Walmart customer decided to get creative—and it was all caught on video.

Walmart Customer Drives Off With Item Balanced On The Roof

TikTok user Adrian Lomeli (@adrianlomeli) shared the scene from a New York Walmart parking lot. His video was viewed over 1.1 million times.

In it, a woman reverses her car with what looks like a large flat-packed box—possibly furniture or a folding table—just resting loosely on the roof of her car. It appears to not be tied down with anything.

“I can’t believe it!” Lomeli wrote in the caption.

Here’s How To Do It Right (And Safely)

Balancing a large package on your car might seem like a harmless workaround, but it’s incredibly unsafe.

Not only could it damage your item, but it could also fall off and hurt someone—or cause an accident. Not to mention, driving with an unsecured load is illegal in all 50 states and the District of Columbia.

According to a news report, the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety, road debris—often caused by items falling off vehicles—was responsible for over 200,000 crashes over a four-year period. That includes 500 deaths and nearly 40,000 injuries.

Commenters Weigh In

In the comments, people were stunned.

“Nobody gonna tell her?” one user asked.

Another wrote, “The first time the brakes are applied going forward it’s going on the hood. A small piece of rope or even twine may keep it there.”
