TikToker Sydney Robinson has gone viral with her Group Chat series, which features drama that unfolds between a group of fictional friends.
Sydney’s first video was posted on March 30, 2025, and almost immediately began going into detail about drama between the group of friends.
In the clip, one friend named Hailey invited her boyfriend Justin to a girls-only dinner and even adjusted their dinner reservation before bringing it up to the chat. She was quickly asked not to bring her boyfriend, but the video ended before she could react.
At the time of writing, the first video has received over 30M views and a staggering 20,000 comments of viewers asking the TikToker for more videos like it.
She listened and followed up with a second episode where Hailey leaves the group chat, sparking more drama in the process. As the series continued to go viral, Charlie Puth made his interest known in the comments.
“I’m so invested in this,” he shared on the second video.
The third video in the five-part series featured Hailey joining the group chat yet again, and the friends made their way to dinner as originally planned. When they arrived, however, Hailey’s boyfriend was there with another woman.
Charlie Puth’s interest led to a cameo in the series
It took a few days for Sydney to post part four, and when she did, the video left fans of the series in absolute shock.
Since Justin arrived at dinner, the TikToker needed somebody to voice the boyfriend, and she managed to get Charlie Puth himself to join in on the series.
“Why does Justin’s voice sound familiar?” Puth joked in the comments.
Sydney posted the season finale on April 9, 2025, and the women were talking about how they left Hailey at the restaurant with her boyfriend.
Back at home, they did some internet searching and found the woman that Justin was at dinner with and quickly learned that he has been dating her since freshman year in college – and that Justin was cheating on her with Hailey.
One woman sent all the details into the group chat, and right as the finale ended, she realized that she was talking about Hailey in the group chat that she was a part of.
Since she left the season on a cliffhanger, fans and brands alike flocked to the comments to share their excitement for the next installment of the series.
“4-minute season finale … she love us! Someone tag me when season 2 drops!” said the UPS TikTok account.
“This is not the season finale; you must give us more!” replied one fan.
Another said: “I’m a 35-year-old man who has been anxiously awaiting this finale.”
While the future of Group Chat is unknown, it’s been clear over the years that TikTok loves when creators make mini-series on the platform.
TikTok star ReesaTeesa went viral back in February 2024 with her 52-part “Who TF Did I Marry?” series, which was eventually picked up to become a full TV show later that year.
