DC fans will have to wait a bit longer to see some of their favorite characters on screen again, as Warner Bros. has pushed back the release dates of several 2022 titles, including Aquaman 2, The Flash, and Black Adam, Variety reports.
Both Aquaman 2 and The Flash have been pushed from 2022 to 2023. Ezra Miller’s first solo film as the scarlet speedster reportedly wrapped filming last October and was originally set to hit theaters on Nov. 4 of this year. It will now release on June 23, 2023, while Jason Mamoa’s Aquaman sequel is moving from Dec. 16, 2022 to March 17, 2023. Dwayne Johnson’s highly anticipated Black Adam is being released on Oct. 21, 2022 instead of July 29. Shazam! Fury of the Gods is the only movie to move up, going from a 2023 release to Dec. 12, 2022.
Warner Bros.’ president of domestic distribution Jeff Goldstein shared how excited the company is to roll out the Shazam sequel early.
“We’re thrilled to bring Shazam! Fury of the Gods to audiences as a Christmas gift this year,” he said. “Families of all ages will really enjoy it.”
Dwayne Johnson also took to Instagram to talk about Super-Pets taking over the original Black Adam release date, and his DC debut being delayed.
“Wanted you guys to hear the news directly from me first,” Johnson wrote in the caption. “CANT WAIT for you and your families around the world to see our movies!!!” The first official trailer for Super-Pets also dropped this past weekend, just after The Batman hit theaters. Johnson is voice-acting as Super Man’s dog Krypto, while Keanu Reaves and Kevin Hart also star as Batman and his pet, respectively.
Other notable titles that are seeing date changes are Timothee Chalamet’s Wonka, Super-Pets also starring Johnson, and The Meg sequel, Meg 2: The Trench.
