Netflix unveiled a first-look at a new addition to the Wallace & Gromit universe today, Norbot the Smart Gnome. Voiced by Reece Shearsmith, Norbot joins as Wallace’s latest invention in the newest installment of the series, Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl.
“We are delighted to introduce Norbot, a ‘Nifty Odd-jobbing Robot’ gnome, designed to help Gromit with his gardening chores,” says filmmakers Nick Park and Merlin Crossingham. “We’re so excited to see Wallace unleashing his latest invention Norbot into the world. However, his long suffering pooch Gromit, may be a little less sure…”
In the next epic adventure of Wallace & Gromit, Gromit becomes concerned that Wallace is becoming too dependent on his inventions, and his fears are proven right when Wallace’s new “Smart Gnome” Norbot seems to develop a mind of its own. When a vengeful figure from their past is revealed as the mastermind, Gromit must battle sinister forces to save Wallace.
Vengeance Most Fowl marks Aardman Animation’s first return to the Wallace & Gromit series since the 2008 short, A Matter of Loaf and Death, and is the second feature-length film in the series, following the 2005 Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit.
Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl premieres on Netflix in winter 2024. The film is directed by Nick Park and Merlin Crossingham, with the story by Park and Mark Burton. Ben Whitehead stars as the voice of Wallace, and is accompanied by the voice talents of Peter Kay, Lauren Patel, Reece Shearsmith, Diane Morgan, Adjoa Andoh, Muzz Khan and Lenny Henry.
