Banned Kick streamer Vitaly will reportedly be trapped in “jail hell” in the Philippines for multiple years before going on trial for his antics in the country.
Russian streamer Vitaly Zdorovetskiy was arrested on April 3 after a series of controversial broadcasts in which he appeared to harass locals, steal, attempted to kiss a security guard, and even try to seize a firearm.
Vitaly is in the custody of the Philippines Bureau of Immigration and was paraded in front of TV cameras as authorities made a statement about how nuisance streams wouldn’t be acceptable in the country.
Well, that message is being sent loud and clear, because the legal system in the Philippines is no joke, with the jail conditions being anything but a whimsical retreat.
Vitaly in “jail hell” awaiting trial after nusiance streams
According to YouTuber Legal Mindset, the courts in the Philippines are packed, meaning Vitaly will be waiting 2-3 years before his trial.
On top of this, he’ll be stuck in a shared cell with multiple inmates with no air conditioning with temperatures averaging at 97 degrees.
Plus, he’ll be eating the same cheap food, costing $1.20 for three meals a day.
To make matters worse, according to a lawyer in the Philippines, the authorities may be using a special penal code in this case.
Normally, there needs to be proof of malice to convict, but under this special penal code, the mere act of doing it is enough. This means the prosecution won’t need to prove intent.
Depending on how the trial plays out, he could be looking at even more jail time on top of the time he’ll spend behind bars waiting.
The authorities have already indicated they want to make an example out of the streamer. During the press conference, they explained how Vitaly wouldn’t be deported or receive special treatment.
“He is accountable to the law. This is an example that we are already serious in our own country,” they said.
This comes as fellow nuisance streamer Johnny Somali is on trial in South Korea with multiple charges filed against him – some serious enough to land him in jail with labor for 10 years.
