Prominent streamer Valkyrae opened up about why she moves to a new address every single year following a terrifying incident with a stranger during a broadcast at the Santa Monica Pier.
On March 2, Valkyrae, along with fellow female streamers Cinna, Emiru and ExtraEmily, were broadcasting live from California’s Santa Monica Pier when they were approached by a stream sniper who lunged at the women, threatening to “kill” them.
The ordeal left all four streamers shaken and brought an abrupt end to Valkyrae and Cinna’s ‘Sisathon’ marathon — but that wasn’t the end of the drama.
Days after the attempted attack, Valkyrae was the subject of violent threats online, prompting her to announce that she’s never going out in public again without some means of self-defense.
Valkyrae says she’s becoming more “private” after attack at Santa Monica Pier
In an episode of her ‘Press ESC’ podcast with co-host Alythuh on March 9, Valkyrae revealed why she moves to a new house on an almost yearly basis… and the reason isn’t all that surprising, given what she’s been through lately.
“I’ve moved so many times,” she began. “I’ve moved at least once a year… I think it’s for safety because a lot of streamers have stalkers and a lot of streamers might get doxxed.
“Also, I think just having a change of scenery helps a lot, because when you’re streaming from home and it’s what you do 24/7, you’re in your house all the time alone. Being able to move and living by other streamers and get dinner sometimes is really nice.”
Valkyrae admitted that she’s becoming more “private” to protect herself after a terrifying incident with a stream sniper during a March broadcast.
When asked if she still plans to buy a house for a more permanent residence, Rae admitted she would have to be “more lowkey about it” to protect her privacy, admitting that she’s “so vocal about everything” in her life.
“I really try to keep things more private now because I really do be yapping about everyone and everything. Whenever I do get a house I probably won’t talk about it so much. I also probably won’t even try to make it under my name — whatever I can do to make it as private as possible.
“It’s really annoying, ’cause it just takes one crazy person to get invested. The internet’s full of crazy people. It is what it is.”

Valkyrae isn’t the only female streamer to be the victim of a violent attacker as of late; earlier in March, fellow broadcaster Amouranth said she was robbed and beaten at gunpoint by three armed men in a horrifying incident caught on camera.
