Twitch has issued an update about a controversial change that is coming to the platform soon that streamers have already hit out at them about.
While rival platforms have popped up, Twitch has remained the top dog in the streaming game. The Amazon-owned platform has the biggest names streaming on there, the features that streamers want, and is just the most well-known at this point.
Given that rivals have popped up and tried to take Twitch’s crown, the purple platform has had to innovate and overhaul a few things. They now allow streamers to multi-stream across different platforms, have unbanned channels with indefinite bans, and started becoming clearer on reasons for suspensions.
However, not all the changes have been welcomed. Back in late February, Twitch announced that they would be limiting streamers to having 100 hours of highlights and VODs on their channel.
Twitch reveals deadline extension for VOD change
This change, which was announced for storage reasons, was quickly blasted by the likes of Kai Cenat. Some also worried that they wouldn’t have enough time to save all of their highlights.
Well, the Amazon-owned platform has now made a change on that front, giving them more time to get things in order.
“We’re extending the deadline to May 19th, 2025,” they said on April 14. “We know this change is tough. We’ve improved download speeds, exports, & expanded bulk selection from 20 to 100 to make it easier to download and delete your highlights.”
Twitch is giving streamers more time to save their content.
The previous deadline had been set to April 19, with some streamers being annoyed that they’d rushed to meet that deadline.
“THANKS FOR MAKING IT BETTER IN THE LAST WEEK NOW THAT IM F**KING DONE,” NickAstalos said. “This whole change has been rolled out horribly. you were clearly NOT ready for this. gave us NO notice for highlights.”
Another, LevelUpYourGame, added: “I deleted over a decade of VODs since you wouldn’t even let me create a highlight of a stream without doing so first. And now nearly 2 months later there’s an extension? Amazing.”
