Twitch CEO addresses mass streamer unban rumor as Adin Ross wait goes on

Twitch CEO Dan Clancy has lifted the lid as to whether or not there will be mass unbanning on the platform as Adin Ross is still awaiting his return.

Over the years, bans have been a huge talking point within the Twitch community. Some channels have disappeared thanks to an out-of-the-blue ban, leading a streamer to find another home while others have been a bit more obvious.

The Amazon-owned platform has started making some tweaks to bans, including lifting long-time suspensions after a certain period of time.

This has led Adin Ross to believe he’ll be able to return to Twitch before long. Though, there have been a few false dawns on when exactly that would be.

Dan Clancy reveals if there will be a mass unban on Twitch

Now, Twitch CEO Dan Clancy has been quizzed on whether or not there will be a mass unbanning for channels like Adin.

“We’ve had a policy around applying for reinstatement for some time now. And we’ve worked, especially over the last year, to make that very clear,” Clancy said on Twitch’s Patch Notes podcast on March 26.

“So, indefinitely suspended streamers have been able to apply for reinstatement. It’s usually six months after the suspension, it depends upon the severity of the suspension in terms of whether it is granted.”

The Twitch CEO urged anyone who has an indefinite suspension to apply for reinstatement too.

“This person is probably referring to the change we just announced a few weeks ago about strike expiration, and we did go through, and for those streamers that, over the last six months that would not have been suspended if not for the new strike expiration policy, we did go ahead and unban them,” he said.

“A team looks at that. If this is something that affects you, please apply for reinstatement. It is indefinite, it is not permanent. We do have a process by which people can get back on Twitch and engage with the community.”

As for Adin, the KICK star has claimed that his ban will be lifted at the end of March. So, we’ll have to wait and see if he’s right.
