Twitch got its wires crossed after sending fighting game legend Daigo Umehara’s Bleed Purple statue for reaching 5M hours watched to a French streamer, instead.
Daigo ‘The Beast’ Umehara is hailed as one of the five gods of fighting games, known for his prowess in the Street Fighter series for decades.
A multi-time Evo champion, Daigo has expanded his pro gaming empire to become a content creator, as well, boasting over 448K followers on Twitch who regularly tune in to watch him beat down the competition.
Daigo has been streaming on Twitch since February 2016, and in the nearly ten years since then, he’s racked up a mind-boggling 5 million hours watched.
Daigo Umehara is hailed as one of the greatest fighting game players of all time.
To celebrate this achievement, Twitch sent the fighting game legend a Bleed Purple statue, one of several awards broadcasters receive when they reach certain viewership milestones.
Twitch sent Diago’s Bleed Purple statue to the wrong streamer
However, it seems that the site sent Daigo’s statue to the wrong address, as told by French streamer ‘Ponce,’ who announced that he’d gotten the award meant for the Japanese fighting game pro, instead.
Ponce discovered the issue in a broadcast in March 2025 during a call with a friend, completely flabbergasted at the mix-up.
“Wait, bro, it’s the first time I’m really looking at it,” he said. “I have something to tell you — it’s exceptional. It’s the first time I’m looking at it, and it’s not mine!
“I swear it’s true. It says, ‘DaigotheBeasTV,’” he explained, completely unaware of who Daigo was. After looking him up on Twitch, Ponce couldn’t help but laugh at the absurd situation.
“It’s not mine!” he exclaimed.
Thus far, Twitch has not made a public statement regarding this kerfuffle, nor have Daigo or Ponce. In fact, Ponce had had the statue for weeks before finally looking at the inscription during his now-viral broadcast.
Viewers have begun offering their own suggestions for returning the statue to Daigo, with one on Reddit saying that Ponce could travel to Evo and give it to him there during an IRL stream.
Evo is coming back to Las Vegas from August 1 – 3, bringing together the world’s best fighting game pros for a weekend of community and competition like no other — and Daigo is almost always in attendance.
