Turnstile have released “LOOK OUT FOR ME,” the latest single from the band’s highly anticipated new album NEVER ENOUGH, out June 6th.
At seven minutes, the track is also the longest song we’ve heard from the new album thus far. The first half sees the band digging into a slamming Nirvana-esque riff as singer Brendan Yates vocals float ethereally over the mix. But just as his cooed melodies become shouts, the song suddenly shifts gears — the final four minutes acting as a practically separate ambient techno piece.
Once again, Yates and guitarist Pat McCrory directed the song’s accompanying music video, which is ostensibly another portion of the NEVER ENOUGH visual album that is being premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival. The video cinematically captures the juxtaposition within the song, as the first half sees Yates driving his Volvo station wagon wildly around the streets of Baltimore before coming to a standstill in a park, the visuals transitioning into footage of seagulls in flight.
