CRAIG Revel Horwood branded Tony’s latest routine on Strictly a ‘disaster’ during tonight’s show.
Tony Adams and Katya Jones jived to Land Of 1,000 Dances by Wilson Pickett, with their 1960s-inspired routine starting and ending with Adams brandishing a guitar.
After his dance, co-host Tess Daly asked: “What about those rolly pollys, Shirley?” before Adams teasingly added: “Do you want to rolly polly with me, Shirley?” prompting roars and groans from the studio audience.
For his routine, he scored 24 out of a possible 40 points.
The footballing legend has found himself at the bottom of the leaderboard on a number of occasions and it was the same this week as he fell below his fellow competitors.
Despite Craig’s criticism, the judges did find things they loved about Tony’s performance.
Shirley acknowledged just how hard the sport star was trying as she said to him: “I can tell in that beautiful heart of yours that you want to go to Blackpool – I feel it in your heart!”
She continued to heap on the praise as exclaimed: “You put on your best there. You never got off on the wrong foot,” as the audience erupted into applause.
Tony has the judges clashing at one point as Anton jokingly suggested Shirley should wear his glasses as he insisted he saw more mistakes than the head judge.
However, Anton was quick to congratulate Tony telling him: “You gave it a good effort!”
Fans at home were also more than impressed with his efforts as they were quick to remark: “Awww I feel so proud of Tony when he does well.”
Another adoring fan added: “Go on Tony great effort.”
As a third said: “Tony so far is my fave dance of the week.”
