During a recent appearance on Samah Dada’s On The Menu podcast, the Spider-Man star gave some rare insight into his relationship with his co-star-turned-girlfriend.

When asked about the last thing he Googled, fans weren’t exactly surprised that his answer was “Zendaya”–but his reason why is both heartwarming and sad at the same time.

“I’m not on socials, and I delete [the apps] when I’m not using [them],” Holland explained. “So sometimes I — it’s more of a bit of an anxiety thing — but like I’ll check, to see if everything’s good and just make sure we’re all cool.”

He continued, “So I just give it a little Google, look [through] the news, and I’m like, ‘She’s good. We’re fine.’”

This sweet answer from Tom comes shortly after a clip of him protecting Zendaya went viral, showing just how protective he is over the Dune actress.

In a viral clip, the actor could be seen rescuing his girlfriend from fans who gathered around her while asking for autographs, taking Zendaya’s hand and pulling her from the crowd while asking the crowd to “give us a little bit of space.”

Around the same time, he was also seen getting a photographer to move aside and make some room for both of them as they exited the event and went to their car.

Though the Spider-Man: No Way Home co-stars aren’t shy about being seen together, they still manage to keep their relationship fairly private.

Zendaya opened up about that balance during an interview with Elle in 2023.

“I can’t not be a person and live my life and love the person I love,” she told the outlet. “You can’t hide. That’s not fun either. I am navigating it more than ever now.”

Zendaya continued, “It’s about protecting the peace and letting things be your own but also not being afraid to exist.”
